Sr. Accountant

Compensation: $35 to $42 Hourly

A mission-driven non-profit / education organization is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support general ledger operations and month-end close. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting compliance with grant and fund accounting requirements, and ensuring timely financial reporting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications
  • Perform monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
  • Assist with fund accounting, including tracking restricted vs. unrestricted funds
  • Partner with program teams to ensure proper expense coding and grant compliance
  • Support audit preparation by compiling schedules and responding to auditor requests
  • Analyze financial data and provide variance explanations to management
  • Assist with process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across accounting operations
