At RS&H, we create places that improve how people live, work, travel, learn, and connect. Our Buildings team is seeking an experienced Architectural Associate III to join our collaborative practice and contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of impactful architectural projects.
This position is ideal for an architect who has developed strong technical and design capabilities and is ready to take on increased project responsibility. You'll work independently on project assignments, contribute to all phases of project delivery, and help develop creative, practical solutions that support client goals and project success.
As part of our employee-owned firm, you'll collaborate with architects, engineers, planners, and technical specialists while continuing to expand your project leadership, technical expertise, and professional growth.
In This Role, You Will:
- Perform architectural design, planning, and project development activities across all phases of project delivery
- Develop planning studies, design concepts, site evaluations, impact studies, and cost analyses
- Design complete projects, systems, components, or processes for less complex assignments and contribute to larger, more complex projects
- Prepare project documentation, analyses, reports, construction documents, and technical deliverables
- Develop and present drawings, renderings, visual aids, and client presentations
- Participate in project planning, design development, construction document preparation, and construction administration activities
- Conduct quality control reviews and help ensure project milestones, schedules, and deliverables are achieved
- Identify project challenges and develop timely, innovative solutions
- Coordinate with internal disciplines, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders to support successful project delivery
- Remain current on applicable building codes, zoning regulations, fire and life safety requirements, accessibility standards, and other governing ordinances
- Provide technical guidance and project support to junior architects, designers, and technical staff
- May lead discipline-specific efforts or small multidisciplinary teams while ensuring adherence to project requirements and company standard
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a motivated architectural professional who combines strong technical skills, design expertise, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering quality work for clients and project teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited program or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 7 years of relevant architectural experience
- Experience supporting the design and delivery of architectural projects through multiple phases of development
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision on project assignments
- Experience preparing construction documents, technical drawings, analyses, and project reports
- Proficiency with architectural production software and construction document production
- Strong understanding of architectural design principles, project delivery processes, and building systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively interact with clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Ability to evaluate project challenges and develop practical, effective solutions
- Experience coordinating project tasks and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an NAAB-accredited program
- Eligible to sit for the Architectural Registration Examination (ARE)
- Experience working on commercial, institutional, healthcare, aviation, transportation, or public-sector projects
- Experience leading portions of projects or coordinating small project teams
- Experience presenting design concepts and technical information to clients and stakeholders
