Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have adesire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs andbackgrounds. MassBay Community College seeks a qualified full-time facultymember beginning in fall 2026 to join a vibrant and inclusive educationalcommunity to educate the next generation of Health Studies professionals. Theideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to inclusive pedagogy, workforcealignment, hands-on clinical training, and student success across traditional,Early College, and apprenticeship pathways.

The Health Studies full-time faculty teaches courses and provides skilldevelopment didactically, which may include lab and clinical components.Students who enroll in these courses are typically in programs such as MedicalCoding, Medical Office Administrative Assistant, Medical Assistant, andPhlebotomy. Some courses are delivered online, while others may be taught inperson or in a hybrid format. The person in this role will participate in thecollege's Early College/Dual Enrollment initiatives.

The candidate must have a healthcare background and expertise suitable forteaching the courses taught in the Health Studies department. The candidatemust be able to communicate effectively, assess students objectively, and workcollaboratively as a team. The individual has obtained the appropriatecertification, where applicable, and has earned an education in ahealth-related profession and clinical experience. Opportunities mayexist for working with other clinical-based programs, depending on thecandidate’s additional clinical certifications.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain a full-time workload (equivalent of 15 credit hours per term) which may include teaching in the Health Studies Programs to include classroom, clinical, laboratory courses, simulation-based courses, clinical coordination, and site engagement;

  • Prepare syllabi and develop curricula for lectures, laboratory, and simulation settings to address course and program student learning outcomes and Graduation Competencies, as appropriate;

  • Teach effectively in a traditional, hybrid, and/or online environment, and foster a respectful, inclusive, and equitable environment;

  • Teach Early College and/or dual enrollment high school students in area high schools, including but not limited to Framingham, Millis, Waltham, and/or Milford, or at our Framingham MassBay campus;

  • Provide instruction during high school hours of operation when necessary;

  • Demonstrate clinical procedures;

  • Support the Early college/dual enrollment needs via communication and reporting between high school & college representatives; collaborate with high school administrators and counselors;

  • Serve as an academic advisor to students and maintain office hours;

  • Participate in College, Division, and Program governance, including attending Division, Department, Advisory Committee, and other committee meetings;

  • Participate in the assessment of course and program learning outcomes, participate in curriculum development and continuous program improvement;

  • Maintain a safe environment during skills training and evaluation sessions; integrate simulation-based learning and competency checklists;

  • Use the College’s technology platforms to effectively communicate with students and colleagues to enhance the learning experience, as appropriate;

  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence and expertise in classroom/ clinical/simulation teaching;

  • Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation required by the program and accreditation agencies;

  • Stay current with professional development activities on their own time;

  • Exhibit current experience and relevancy in the healthcare environment being taught and ensure instruction aligns with relevant industry certification domains (eg. NHA, OSHA, HIPAA, and CLIA regulations);

  • Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean/Assistant Dean of Health Sciences consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreements;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree relevant to teaching any of the courses in the Health Studies department, or at least 5 years of directly related professional experience in the field, may be substituted for the advanced degree. Commitment to complete a master’s degree, if not obtained already, within two years of hire;

  • Current unrestricted certification in a health field (e.g., CCMA, CMA, RMA, LPN, RN or higher);

  • Recent clinical work experience (minimum of three years), Full-Time in an ambulatory or outpatient setting as a medical assistant, nurse, or phlebotomist.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action;

  • Experience working in a community college or similar environment;

  • Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need;

  • Master’s degree in healthcare, education, or related field;

  • Experience with Early College or dual enrollment programs;

  • Experience with simulation labs and competency-based assessment models;

  • Bilingual language skills;

  • Certified/credentialed in medical assisting, phlebotomy, or other closely related allied health fields;

  • Formal experience teaching courses such as Critical Thinking in Healthcare, Electronic Health Records, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Delivery Systems, Medical Assisting, Medical Coding, Medical Ethics, Medical Office, Medical Terminology, Phlebotomy, Soft Skills for Medical Professionals, or related subject matter;

  • Willingness to teach asynchronous or hybrid courses;

  • Demonstrated teaching or teaching experience in healthcare education.

Additional Information:

Salary Range:
$65,000 - $72,000, in accordance with one's education and experience asdictated by the collective bargaining agreement classification compensationstructure.
