Position Description

The Department of Psychiatry at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is seeking tenure or non-tenure track faculty psychologists to join our team and help expand the mental and behavioral health services of children, adolescents, and families in West Texas.

This position will include involvement in programs developed by the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium, which utilize telehealth to provide services to youth in school districts and primary care offices across the state. This position will also provide a unique opportunity for involvement in an innovative, stepped-care mental health service model that includes outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs, all of which are housed in a newly-developed, state-of-the-art location within Covenant Children's Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. Contributes to the university's mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.

Rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor and applicable salary are dependent upon candidate's qualifications and experience.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Work collaboratively with a team of providers (e.g., nurses, social workers, marriage and family therapists, licensed professional counselors, psychiatrists) to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for youth with a range of behavioral and emotional difficulties, as well as medical conditions.
  • Providing and supervising evidence-based assessment and intervention services to youth and families
  • Engaging in team-based consultation.
  • Clinical teaching and program development will be components of the position, and numerous opportunities for collaborative research are available.


Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D./Psy.D. in clinical, school, or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited predoctoral internship.
  • Completion of or in process of completing a postdoctoral fellowship.
  • Completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3.
