Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Manage the full monthly close process for several locations, ensuring financial records are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Prepare draft financial statements and work closely with site leadership and accounting contacts to validate results and resolve discrepancies.
• Record journal entries related to inventory, prepaids, accruals, and other month-end activity while confirming transactions tie to supporting subsystems.
• Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts, investigate open items, and post adjustments as needed to maintain clean financial records.
• Analyze monthly income statement and balance sheet activity, document notable variances, and share key findings with operational and corporate leaders.
• Support membership accounting by reviewing additions, resignations, and account changes, while maintaining accurate dues, initiation fee, and member count reporting.
• Partner with tax and finance teams on sales and use tax filings, annual budgeting support, audit schedules, and collections follow-up on aging receivables.
• Contribute to process improvement and system-related initiatives, including assigned accounting projects that strengthen consistency, compliance, and efficiency.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.• 1 to 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality, private club, multi-entity, or property management environments.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and internal financial statement preparation.
• Ability to perform variance analysis and maintain multiple sets of books with strong accuracy and attention to detail.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, along with working knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Microsoft Great Plains or Dynamics GP is preferred.
• Familiarity with accounting controls, policy compliance, and deadline-driven financial reporting processes.
• CPA designation is not required, but it is considered an advantage.
