Compensation: $31.66 to $36.66 Hourly

We are looking for an HR Generalist to support day-to-day human resources operations for a university environment in California. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who can balance employee support, policy guidance, and compliance-focused HR administration. The role partners with leaders and staff to strengthen workplace practices, address people-related concerns, and help maintain an inclusive and well-managed employee experience.

Responsibilities:
• Advise managers and employees on workplace matters, helping resolve concerns and support a productive, respectful environment.
• Contribute to performance management activities by assisting with coaching documentation, corrective action processes, and employee retention efforts.
• Participate in employee relations matters, including fact-finding, documentation, and follow-up related to policy or conduct issues.
• Organize onboarding activities and support training and career development programs to help employees succeed in their roles.
• Assist with talent acquisition tasks such as posting openings, coordinating interviews, and helping ensure recruitment steps meet established guidelines.
• Maintain HR records, reports, and personnel documentation with a high level of accuracy, organization, and confidentiality.
• Work closely with payroll, benefits, and other internal teams to keep core HR processes running smoothly.
• Monitor HR practices for alignment with federal, state, and local employment requirements as well as institutional policies.
• Support departmental initiatives, process updates, and special projects designed to improve HR service delivery and efficiency.
