Payroll Specialist

We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our team in Sherman Oaks, California on a contract basis with the potential for a long-term opportunity. This position is ideal for a payroll specialist who can manage complex, high-volume processing with accuracy while navigating multi-state regulations and deadlines. The role calls for strong analytical ability, confident communication, and comfort working across payroll systems and spreadsheet-driven workflows.

Responsibilities:
• Process full-cycle payroll for a large employee population, ensuring timely and accurate wage payments, deductions, and adjustments.
• Administer payroll activities across multiple states while applying applicable tax, wage, and compliance requirements.
• Use ADP Workforce Now and related payroll platforms to maintain records, review transactions, and support payroll operations.
• Analyze payroll data in Excel by building and using tools such as PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, and SUMIF functions to validate results and resolve discrepancies.
• Investigate payroll questions by reviewing source information from regulatory agencies and internal documentation to support compliant decision-making.
• Create and maintain clear process documentation using Microsoft Excel, Word, or Visio to improve consistency and knowledge sharing.
• Coordinate daily tasks through Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Workspace while balancing shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to address payroll issues, communicate updates clearly, and support related systems such as NetSuite and other payroll applications.
