Staff Accountant

Compensation: $23 to $30 Hourly

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a client in the greater Nashville area. This position is ideal for someone who can evaluate financial information carefully, manage recurring close activities, and handle account research with accuracy. The role offers hands-on involvement in general ledger work, reconciliations, and day-to-day accounting processes in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining accurate support for general ledger activity.

• Execute month-end closing tasks and help ensure deadlines are met during the close cycle.

• Perform bank and account reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items.

• Investigate accounting questions and perform ad hoc research within Great Plains to support reporting and issue resolution.

• Oversee invoice-related processes and help maintain organized, timely transaction records.

• Work with vendor portals to review, track, and support payment and account activity.

• Assist with cleanup of reconciliation items and strengthen the accuracy of account balances.



Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
• Practical experience preparing journal entries and working within the general ledger.
• Background supporting month-end close activities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Experience completing bank account reconciliations and resolving variances.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains; strong preference for direct hands-on use.
• Ability to analyze financial details critically and conduct accounting research independently.
• Proficiency with standard accounting systems and Microsoft Excel for daily financial tasks.

Compensation

$23.00-$30.00 Hourly
