Controller

We are looking for an experienced Controller to support a manufacturing-focused organization on a contract-to-permanent basis. This role is ideal for a hands-on finance leader who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to advise, coach, and strengthen financial operations in a short-term consulting environment. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise across core accounting functions while helping internal stakeholders build confidence in financial processes and system usage.

Responsibilities:
• Lead month-end and period-end close activities, ensuring financial results are accurate, timely, and well supported.
• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies to maintain the integrity of financial records.
• Manage finance-related tax activities, including payroll tax oversight and compliance with reporting obligations.
• Provide guidance on retirement plan administration matters, including support related to 401(k) processes and financial coordination.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to internal teams by sharing best practices across accounting operations and financial controls.
• Deliver training and practical instruction to staff on the organization’s manufacturing accounting system or a comparable ERP platform used in production environments.
• Review existing accounting workflows and recommend improvements that increase consistency, visibility, and operational effectiveness.
• Partner with leadership to address short-term financial priorities while creating a foundation for longer-term stability in the role.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience serving as a Controller or senior finance leader within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong command of month-end close, general ledger oversight, and financial statement accuracy.
• Proven background in payroll tax compliance and related accounting responsibilities.
• Experience preparing and reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing ERP or accounting systems such as E2 JobBOSS or similar platforms.
• Ability to train, mentor, and educate team members on financial processes and system usage.
• Broad finance expertise that includes accounting operations, compliance, and employee benefit-related coordination.
• Comfortable working in a consultative, short-term engagement with the potential to transition into a longer-term opportunity.

Compensation

$47.50-$55.00 Hourly
