Purchasing Agent (Full-Time, Permanent) – Greater New Haven Area
An established and growing organization in the Greater New Haven area is seeking a Purchasing Agent to support ongoing purchasing and sourcing operations. This individual will play a key role in building and maintaining a dependable supply chain, with a focus on cost efficiency, quality, and supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities (Day-to-Day)
- Identify and source components from both domestic and international suppliers
- Assess vendors based on cost, quality standards, delivery timelines, and consistency
- Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and volume-based agreements
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring ongoing performance
- Track and evaluate total landed cost, including tariffs, duties, and freight considerations
- Coordinate inbound logistics, including international shipping and customs processes
- Partner cross-functionally with internal teams to align purchasing with demand forecasts
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in purchasing or procurement within a mechanical related industry
- Working knowledge of global sourcing, including import/export regulations and international trade practices
- Familiarity with tariffs and cost structures associated with overseas procurement
- Strong negotiation skills with a focus on cost optimization and value
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Additional Details
- Compensation: $70,000 – $90,000 annually, depending on experience
- Schedule: Full-time, onsite
