Accounts Payable Clerk

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk to support a non-profit organization in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting specialist who can manage invoice processing, maintain accurate financial records, and work effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders. The role requires strong reconciliation skills, a proactive approach to resolving discrepancies, and the ability to keep accounts payable operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities:
• Review invoices for accuracy, assign appropriate coding, and process them efficiently through the accounts payable workflow.
• Combine and prepare payable documents in organized batches, then enter and post transactions with a high level of accuracy.
• Investigate payment-related discrepancies and coordinate with vendors or customers to resolve outstanding accounts payable or receivable issues.
• Reconcile subsidiary ledger activity to the general ledger and address variances in a timely manner.
• Support cash application activities and maintain account balances through regular reconciliation and follow-up.
• Monitor chargebacks and related adjustments, ensuring records are updated correctly and exceptions are researched promptly.
• Maintain complete and accurate financial documentation to support reporting, audit readiness, and daily accounting operations.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting function.
• Strong background in account reconciliation, including sub-ledger and general ledger balancing.
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable processes such as invoice review, coding, and payment posting.
• Ability to research discrepancies and communicate effectively with vendors, customers, and internal teams.
• Experience working with customer invoices and maintaining accurate transaction records.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills in a deadline-driven environment.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and standard business software used for financial processing.

Compensation

$23.75-$27.50 Hourly
