Staff Accountant

A successful construction company is seeking a Staff Accountant to support accounting operations, job costing, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. This role offers broad exposure to construction accounting and the opportunity to work directly with project managers and leadership.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and interested in developing expertise within a project-based accounting environment.

Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

• Prepare journal entries and monthly account reconciliations
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Maintain general ledger accounts and supporting schedules
• Reconcile bank accounts and credit card activity
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions

Construction Accounting

• Assist with job cost reporting and project financial analysis
• Monitor project expenses and labor allocations
• Review subcontractor invoices and project-related costs
• Support work-in-progress reporting and project reconciliations
• Assist with audit and tax preparation activities

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Construction, manufacturing, or project-based accounting experience preferred
• Experience with Sage 100 Contractor, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar systems is a plus
• Strong Excel and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
