Summary
The Painter is responsible for spray painting products according to production and quality standards. This role requires basic knowledge of spray painting techniques, painting equipment, and manufacturing processes.
The Painter must be able to work with minimum supervision, understand the products being painted, apply proper nomenclature to products, and operate one or more machines as needed to support production. This position requires attention to detail, regular attendance, and the ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Skillfully spray paint products.
- Use spray painting techniques and equipment properly.
- Identify required components and ensure products are painted according to specifications.
- Apply proper nomenclature to painted products.
- Use shop mathematics as needed.
- Read and understand blueprints, written specifications, safety warnings, and assembly instructions.
- Operate one or more machines as required to meet production and quality standards.
- Maintain production schedules through punctuality and regular attendance.
- Complete required paperwork accurately.
- Communicate with supervisors, dispatchers, inspectors, and other team members.
- Follow safety procedures and manufacturing guidelines.
- Work around normal manufacturing conditions, including exposure to some dust, smoke, and fumes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years of relevant experience working in a manufacturing environment required.
- OSHA-required Respiratory and Fit Testing certificates required.
- Basic knowledge of spray painting techniques and equipment.
- Ability to operate one or more machines as required to meet production and quality standards.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, written specifications, safety warnings, and assembly instructions.
- Ability to use basic shop mathematics.
- Ability to lift 1 to 50 pounds several times per day.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach to pick up parts, paint products, and retrieve parts or equipment from other areas of the plant.
- Ability to see, read, and write in order to follow instructions, understand safety information, and complete paperwork.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatchers, inspectors, and other team members.
- Ability to learn, retain instructions, and apply long-term memory to work processes.
- Regular and punctual attendance required to maintain manufacturing schedules.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 2–5 years of industrial painting experience.
- Strong knowledge of spray-painting techniques.
- Experience painting industrial or manufacturing products.
- Knowledge of product nomenclature and labeling requirements.
- Experience operating multiple machines in a production environment.
- Ability to work with maximum productivity while maintaining quality standards.
- Class A / Level Grade 8 painting experience.
Physical Demands / Environmental Conditions
This position requires the ability to lift 1 to 50 pounds several times per day. The Painter must be able to stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach throughout the shift in order to pick up parts, paint products, and retrieve parts or equipment from other areas of the plant.
The work environment includes normal manufacturing conditions and may involve exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, and other shop-related conditions.
