Position Summary:

Wright Construction Group is seeking a qualified and experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee and enforce safety protocols on active Corp of Engineer construction sites. The SSHO will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, including 385-1-1 and OSHA standards, and promote a culture of safety throughout all phases of construction.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific safety plans (SSSPs).
  • Conduct daily safety inspections and audits of work areas, equipment, and practices.
  • Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for site personnel.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations; prepare detailed reports and corrective action plans.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, including logs, permits, and inspection records.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1 (for federal projects), and Wright Construction Group’s safety policies.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure their safety programs align with site requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters on-site.
  • Support project teams in hazard identification and risk mitigation strategies.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety, preferably on federal or large-scale commercial projects.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required; OSHA 500 or 510 preferred.
  • EM 385-1-1 training and experience strongly preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with government contracts and safety compliance (e.g., USACE, NAVFAC).
  • Familiarity with safety management software and reporting tools.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • American Society for Health Engineering Healthcare Construction Certificate (ASHE HCC)

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily field-based with exposure to active construction environments.
  • May require travel between job sites.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, and climb for extended periods.
