General Summary: The College Advancement Program Manager is a key player for the College Advancement team and is responsible for managing the administrative function for our Campaign Initiatives, Scholarship Application, Review, Award and Scholarship Ceremony process; Working with the Advancement Services Specialist in learning and managing our BlackBaud database and ensuring accuracy and efficiency in our data; Assisting with event planning; supporting the Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations in their work with the Alumni Association and the Alumni Association Board; and supporting the College Advancement and Institutional Advancement teams as needed. Under the direction of the Dean for College Advancement, the Manager is also expected to assist with the duties related to managing a Capital Campaign, mailings, appeals, and fundraising programs aimed at assisting our students, the MCC Foundation and the College. The Manager will support MCC Foundation initiatives as directed by the MCC Foundation Board and other duties related to College Advancement including scheduling donor meetings, Board meetings, and assisting with the delivery of all programs and services offered by the Office of Advancement and the MCC Foundation.

Essential Job Functions:

Promotes awareness and growth for MCC and the MCC Foundation:

  • In conjunction with the College Advancement team, cultivates and stewards alums, donors, friends, corporate partners, and constituents of the MCC Foundation to create awareness and promote giving
  • Coordinates and manages marketing materials in consultation with College Advancement and Marketing teams
  • Coordinates mailings, e-blasts, and social media touch points
  • Prepares application/materials for any grant application process initiated for use of funds raised, including the faculty and staff Mini-Grants process
  • Helps to support Foundation initiatives, annual spring fundraiser, Celebrity Forum, and specifically manages the event raffle; and provides input in planning and executing the event
  • Assists with Advancement Campaigns and Appeals as needed

Coordinates the MCC Foundation Scholarship Program:

  • Assists with managing the annual timeline for scholarship application and selection processes
  • Revises online applications as needed
  • Routinely reviews and updates scholarship descriptions
  • Corresponds with student applicants and faculty/staff regarding the application process and the awards ceremony
  • In conjunction with the Director of Annual Giving & Alumni Relations, plans and executes the annual scholarship ceremony in the fall, including invitations and preparing recipient bios; follow-up with donors, presenters, faculty, staff, students and invited guests; planning of presentations and ceremony logistics including catering and facilities requests
  • Processes and organizes scholarship payments
  • Works closely with the Director of Annual Giving & Alumni Relations, Financial Aid and Student Accounts Offices to process scholarship payments.

Coordinates Alumni Relations Efforts and Assists with the MCC Alumni Association:

  • Assists with alumni outreach efforts and grows alumni engagement opportunities in conjunction with the MCC Alumni Association
  • Collaborates with Institutional Advancement Staff to cultivate and engage local businesses support for alumni activities.
  • Collaborates with Advancement Staff and members of the college community to identify and collect alumni-interest stories, and record alumni-interest stories and related information into database
  • Assists with MCC Alumni social media pages, including but not limited to, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts
  • Researches alumni prospects utilizing BlackBaud's Raiser's Edge, Research Point, LightCast, and LinkedIn to generate reports on findings

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates and engages with current students to promote future alumni identity and involvement
  • Assists with the research on prospective donors
  • Assists in production of the Annual Report
  • Participates in college-wide initiatives and programs
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required with 2-3 years of experience with scholarship programs, financial management, fundraising and/or grant programs
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office programs essential.
  • Commitment to the mission and philosophy of the College with a strong understanding and respect for the goals of the Office of College Advancement.
  • Experience with program, financial and time management skills.
  • Experience in grant, scholarship and program development, with the willingness to take risks in proposing, developing, and implementing new initiatives.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, with a familiarity with database, scholarship, and financial software. Raiser's Edge Software experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of social media, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to establish positive public relations and to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain highest ethical standards and levels of confidentiality.
  • Ability to collaborate with MCC colleagues, as well as colleagues from our partner institutions


Additional Information:

Salary Range: $73,000-$83,000; starting salary dependent upon experience. Employees of Middlesex Community College are considered employees of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and receive benefits which include:
