Overview

Responsible for maintaining and reconciling the Universitys endowment programs in ledger at market value to ensure completeness and accuracy. Perform monthly endowment rollforwards and reconcile long-term liabilities for others. Research new accounting guidance and apply them to current practices. Use external resources and trainings to recommend process improvements. Perform Compliance reviews for spending with Donor Restrictions. Partner with schools on requests to run endowment related reports via the Universitys endowment accounting software (Fundriver). Assist other teams at the University, such as the Investment Office, Office of Gift Administration, and Financial Reporting, with endowment related deliverables like historical cash flow, footnotes, endowment rollforwards, etc. Integral team member for year-end audit. Participate in other special reporting such as IRS Form 990 and numerous endowment survey reportings. This role also includes cross training to be able to back up ACCI team members (when necessary) on a wide variety of contribution and investment team duties.

Responsibilities

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree Accounting or equivalent

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree Accounting or Finance, CPA or progress towards CPA.

Required Experience:
3+ years accounting or auditing experience, including financial statement analysis and reporting or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience:
5+ years accounting or auditing experience, including financial statement analysis and reporting or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3+ years public accounting and/or advisory experience. Experience with accounting practices within a higher education environment or Not-for-profit, including gift accounting.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong detail-orientation, analytical, organizational and problem solving skills. Ability to be flexible, manage changing priorities, perform multiple tasks, and be comfortable with working under deadlines. Strong customer service skills demonstrating tact and sensitivity in stressful situations. Proficiency in the use of software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Must understand GAAP accounting.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Familiarity with PeopleSoft financial software for Education and Government.


Qualifications

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $95,000.00 to USD $115,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
