Function of Position:

The Department of Education and Human Services is seeking a motivated and creative work-study student to support departmental initiatives. This position offers hands-on experience in communications, event planning, and data management, and student support. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and enthusiastic about contributing to a dynamic academic environment.

This position may be funded through Federal Work Study (FWS) and/or departmental budgetary funds, depending on eligibility and departmental need. Federal Work Study applicants must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to employment consideration. If you are unsure of your FWS eligibility, please before applying. Applicants must include their M# in any correspondence with the Financial Aid Office.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Event Support:
    • Assist in planning, organizing, and executing department events such as workshops, guest lectures, and student engagement activities.
    • Provide on-site support during events, including setup, registration, and breakdown.
  • Information Compilation and Organization:
    • Organize information related to certification requirements, licensure processes, and other professional standards in education and human services.
  • Social Media Content Development:
    • Assist in creating and scheduling engaging content for departmental social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
    • Help monitor engagement and suggest strategies to increase visibility and interaction.
  • Student Support
    • Assist Education and Human Resources students with tasks such as class registration and making appointments with department faculty and staff

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Must be currently enrolled as a student at Monroe Community College
  • Must maintain satisfactory academic progress and be in good academic standing
  • Federal Work Study eligibility is required for FWS-funded positions (must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to hire)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience helping plan or run events (campus, school, or community)
  • Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express)
  • Experience creating flyers, social media graphics, or short videos
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently


Additional Information:

Pay Rate: $16.00/hour

Hours per Week: Up to 20 hours/week

Location: Downtown Campus, Building 32
