Third (grave) shift or as needed, any day of the week, as assigned. Overtime as needed, 5-7 days a week. Job may be seasonal throughout the year.



Responsibilities

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Responsible to comply with all Quality and Food Safety Management standards and/or systems to ensure continual improvement an effectiveness of the Food Safety Management System with the ability to satisfy our customers and provide products that are in accordance to their intended use and safe for human consumption.
  • A Sanitation Specialist must upon a successful training period be able to have a general understanding of their special areas such a {i.e.Blueberry line Aweta. Raybolution – Raybow Vision Sorters. Tub & cups. Puree, Retort, Zambonni Sweeper and Shelf stable.etc}
  • Wash down and sanitize all processing equipment, floors, walls, pipes, drains, grounds, etc.
  • Use cleaning chemicals(chlorine, lye, and detergents), while wearing a protection jacket, pants, gloves, goggles, and boots.
  • Immediately report any accidents to Area Supervisor or Supervisor.
  • Immediately report any malfunctions of processing equipment to Area Supervisor or Supervisor.
  • Report any safety hazard to Area Supervisor or Supervisor.
  • Must be able to work in the IQF Units and perform system control to defrost the IQF units in Sanitation Department.
  • Demonstrable ability to clean delicate and expensive machine such as those with optical sensors and small electrical components.
  • Have a mechanical aptitude for disassembling handling and reassembling components for cleaning.
  • Basic knowledge of HMI controls to turn a machine on and off for cleaning purposes.
  • Basic knowledge of a system loop in order to perform Clean in Place [CIP] Ensure that the solution meets the proper concentrations, temperatures, times and flows.
  • Able to handle and mix chemicals from bulk tanks into portable sprayers. Caustics. Acids. Chlorines. Oxidizers and other concentrated cleaning agents.
  • Work with QA Inspector and follow up as appropriate to ensure that all operating and sanitation standards have been met to ensure a safe and effective on –time start of production.
  • Follow company policies.
  • Follow safety procedures.
  • Other duties that are reasonably associated with the above essential functions of the job.


Qualifications



Experience, Knowledge, & Skills You Bring:                                            

  • Prior Sanitation or similar work experience a plus
  • Previous experience working a food manufacturing setting a plus
  • Must be able to understand and carry out instructions regarding the job  and safety procedures.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate ability to be a team player
  • Demonstrate good attitude, quick learner and work completed independent (after initial training)
  • Must be organized and self- motivated
  • Must be able to work under pressure and proactive to learn and contribute to his or her team.
  • Reliable attendance is an essential function of the job

Education & Certification:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass job specific Physical Ability Test (PAT).
  • Must be able to work in temperatures that are both cold and hot, with sudden changes of temperature.
  • Noise produced by manufacturing machinery up to 92 decibels.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and inclined & vertical ladders up to 25ft daily.
  • Must be able to do repetitive movements of bending, reaching up to 24” overhead and forward up to 24”, squatting, kneeling, and pushing & pulling an average weight of 80 – 58 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work with chemicals.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time on concrete and/or metal grating.
  • Requires climbing, standing, stooping, twisting, lifting and other physical
  • movements to perform job.
  • Must be able to bend or squat low enough to go under conveyor belts.
  • Must have dexterity to be able to hold a high pressure hose (750-1000 psi)
  • for long periods.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts and days when required, including weekends.

Work Environment:

  • Wet environment. May work indoors or outdoors at times.  Will work in tight, confined areas with caustic chemicals such as chlorine, lye and caustic detergents and with dangerous and sharp equipment. Work areas may be slippery and/or icy.  May work in defrosting freezers with temperatures as low as 30 degrees.

Hiring Pay Scale: $__19.25________
