Cost Accountant
Robert Half is currently recruiting for a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to support manufacturing finance activities for one of out client's in Greeneville, Tennessee. This role focuses on analyzing product costs, maintaining accurate standard costing data, and helping the business understand material, labor, and overhead performance. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing setting, along with advanced spreadsheet skills and the ability to work effectively with ERP data.
Responsibilities:
• Evaluate product and production costs to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improved financial performance.
• Maintain and update standard cost records by reviewing material usage, labor assumptions, and overhead application methods.
• Analyze bills of materials to confirm cost accuracy and support reliable product costing.
• Prepare and review cost reports that explain manufacturing results, inventory movements, and operational spending.
• Partner with plant and finance teams to support cycle counts, annual physical inventory activities, and inventory reconciliation efforts.
• Assess labor allocation and estimate inputs to help ensure accurate cost assignment across operations.
• Monitor overhead rates and recommend adjustments when production or spending patterns change.
• Use SAP and Microsoft Excel to extract, validate, and interpret financial and operational data for reporting and analysis.

Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.• Hands-on knowledge of standard costing principles, cost analysis, and manufacturing cost structures.
• Experience working with bills of materials, labor allocation, and overhead rate calculations.
• Familiarity with cycle count programs and annual inventory processes.
• Proficiency in SAP and strong Microsoft Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
• Ability to investigate variances, interpret data accurately, and communicate findings clearly.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Compensation
