Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a team in New Jersey in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys keeping payables organized, ensuring timely disbursements, and maintaining strong vendor relationships in a structured accounting environment. The role follows a primarily onsite schedule with four days in the office and one flexible remote day each week.

Responsibilities:
• Review and process incoming invoices accurately and in a timely manner while ensuring proper account coding.
• Prepare and issue weekly check payments, including managing routine check runs and maintaining payment records.
• Execute electronic disbursements such as ACH transactions and confirm that payments are completed correctly.
• Communicate with vendors to resolve billing questions, payment discrepancies, and account issues professionally.
• Maintain organized accounts payable documentation to support reporting, auditing, and internal recordkeeping needs.
• Upload payment or invoice-related Excel files into the designated system as needed for processing and tracking.
• Coordinate daily payable activities to help keep deadlines on schedule and support the broader accounting function.

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience in accounts payable, including invoice review, payment processing, and vendor support.
• Working knowledge of account coding and the ability to assign expenses accurately.
• Experience handling check runs and electronic payments, including ACH transactions.
• Basic Excel skills with the ability to work with spreadsheets for uploads and payment-related tracking.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when processing a high volume of financial information.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while meeting recurring payment deadlines.
• Clear and detail-oriented communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Compensation

$23.75-$27.50 Hourly
