Staff Accountant
We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and help maintain accurate financial records for a growing organization in Milford, Massachusetts. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys balancing transactional accounting with month-end support, payroll coordination, and project-related financial tasks. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment with confidential information, and the ability to work effectively across accounting, HR, and project teams.
Responsibilities:
• Manage vendor invoice entry, payment processing, and employee reimbursement reviews to ensure timely and accurate disbursements.
• Monitor sales and use tax activity and maintain organized records to support reporting and compliance requirements.
• Support weekly payroll activities, including coordination with HR and reconciliation of payroll-related deductions and liabilities.
• Prepare account reconciliations and financial analyses as part of the month-end close process.
• Partner with the Controller on monthly and year-end closing activities, helping to keep deadlines on track.
• Contribute to audit readiness by assembling documentation and assisting with schedules requested during the audit process.
• Maintain accurate accounting schedules for rental equipment and related financial tracking.
• Help strengthen internal accounting procedures by supporting the development and upkeep of financial controls.
• Work with project management teams on job-related accounting needs, including cost tracking and other project financial support.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of accounting experience, with exposure to construction or project-based accounting preferred.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable, general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close responsibilities.
• Experience with accounting software used in construction environments, such as Viewpoint Vista, Sage, or Timberline, along with strong Excel skills.
• Familiarity with payroll processing platforms such as Paychex; experience supporting weekly payroll is strongly preferred.
• Understanding of sales and use tax requirements and the ability to maintain accurate supporting records.
• High level of accuracy, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
• Attention to detail, discretion, self-direction, and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
