Tax Accountant

A growing firm is seeking Remote Tax Accountant to support a high-volume tax season through the upcoming filing deadline. This is a contract opportunity that will go through October 15th. Tax Accountant who has prior experience working with business tax returns, who can work independently, and handle complex returns in a fast-paced environment are needed. This is a great opportunity for experienced tax professionals to play a critical role during peak season and collaborate with an impressive tax team.

Tax Accountant Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare business tax returns (1120, 1120S, 1065, 1041)
• Communicate with clients to gather required documentation and resolve discrepancies
• Assist with bookkeeping cleanup as needed for accurate filings
• Review returns for completeness, accuracy, and compliance
• Interface with tax authorities as needed on client matters
• Manage multiple engagements and meet tight filing deadlines

The ideal Tax Accountant brings a strong background in public accounting, confidence handling complex business tax scenarios, and advanced spreadsheet skills to organize and analyze return data.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of tax preparation experience, preferably within a public accounting environment.

• CPA, Enrolled Agent, or working toward these designations is required; or 6+ years of recent experience may be required without a designation

• Hands-on experience preparing business tax returns and individual income tax returns for a variety of entity types.

• Working knowledge of Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1041, and related K-1 reporting requirements.

• Strong Excel skills with the ability to organize, reconcile, and analyze financial and tax data efficiently.

• Familiarity with QuickBooks and CCH ProSystem or similar tax software.

• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining clear communication with clients and internal stakeholders.

• Understanding of complex tax topics such as rental real estate, partnerships, pass-through entities, and small business structures.
