Payroll Administrator

Job Title: Payroll Analyst (Certified Payroll Auditing)

Location: Houston, TX (onsite or hybrid if applicable)

Duration: 6-month contract (project-based, no long-term extension expected)

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to support a high-impact pipeline of upcoming projects with significant certified/prevailing wage requirements. This is a contract role focused entirely on payroll auditing and compliance, not payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and audit payroll results to ensure accuracy of wages, hours, and classifications
• Validate certified payroll reports against source data, including pay stubs and time records
• Ensure compliance with prevailing wage determinations and project requirements
• Identify discrepancies and determine compliance gaps
• Calculate retro pay adjustments when employees are underpaid or non-compliant
• Support documentation and reporting for project-based certified payroll requirements
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure audit readiness

Qualifications:

Requirements

• Prior payroll experience with a strong understanding of pay structures (regular, overtime, etc.)
• Experience reading and interpreting pay stubs, time data, and payroll outputs
• Exposure to certified payroll and/or prevailing wage environments
• Strong attention to detail and ability to audit high-volume data accurately
• Understanding of compliance concepts related to wage determinations preferred
• Ability to work independently in a project-driven environment

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience auditing certified payroll (not just generating reports)
• Experience identifying compliance issues and calculating retro pay
• Background in construction, government contracting, or project-based payroll environments
