Jr. Paralegal

A boutique litigation firm in Oakland is seeking a Junior Paralegal to join the team on a contract-to-hire basis. The firm handles a broad range of civil litigation matters, including toxic torts, business litigation, employment, medical malpractice, product liability, and general liability defense.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with an ABA-approved paralegal certificate or a junior paralegal with 1–3 years of experience to gain hands-on exposure to complex litigation in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support to attorneys across a variety of civil litigation matters
• Assist with drafting, formatting, and proofreading legal documents, including pleadings and correspondence
• Support discovery efforts, including document collection, organization, and production
• Maintain and organize case files (electronic and physical)
• Assist with deposition and trial preparation, including exhibit organization and binder preparation
• Conduct basic legal research and cite checking
• Coordinate filings and assist with calendaring deadlines and court dates
• Communicate with internal team members and assist with case management tasks

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate required
• Open to recent graduates or candidates with 1–3 years of experience
• Strong interest in civil litigation (toxic tort, employment, business litigation, or similar)
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with legal systems/tools is a plus
• Eagerness to learn and grow within a litigation-focused practice
