Staff Accountant

A well-established organization in the Tumwater area is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the accounting team during a period of growth and increased workload. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys contributing in a mission-driven environment and has experience supporting month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Candidates with previous non-profit, government, municipal, education, or public sector accounting experience are highly encouraged to apply.

• Prepare and post journal entries
• Perform bank and general ledger account reconciliations
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
• Analyze financial data and research account discrepancies
• Support grant, fund, or program accounting activities
• Prepare supporting schedules and audit documentation
• Assist with financial reporting and budget tracking
• Maintain compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
• Partner with department leaders to ensure accurate financial reporting

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Strong Excel skills including PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis
• Experience in non-profit, government, education, healthcare, or public sector environments is highly preferred
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
