As part of the Crosby team, you will be supporting channel partners and end users around the world using Crosby products in mission-critical applications ranging from renewable power development, space exploration, national defense, manufacturing, and infrastructure development.

The L-Group Leader directs, supervises, and coordinates machining, forging, welding, painting, and/or assembly operations. This role supervises a crew of 20 to 30+ team members involved in the production, finishing, and assembly of the Company’s products. The Group Leader is responsible for safety, quality, production quantity, manufacturing costs, meeting production schedules, and on-time shipment of product lines.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of the Value Stream Manager or Manufacturing Manager.
  • Ensure team members work safely and use proper PPE.
  • Conduct monthly work center inspections, participate in safety meetings, and support accident/incident investigations.
  • Supervise team members in machining, forging, welding, finishing, and/or assembly operations.
  • Manage production quality, quantity, cost, schedules, material usage, and workflow to meet manufacturing goals.
  • Organize and assign work based on available skills, experience, man-hours, machines, and tooling.
  • Troubleshoot production, tooling, machine, and workflow issues to reduce downtime and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Coordinate maintenance needs with the Maintenance department.
  • Provide daily direction, training, and guidance to team members.
  • Monitor setup, machining, finishing, and/or assembly processes.
  • Partner with QA to ensure finished goods meet company and customer quality standards.
  • Complete corrective action forms when needed.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Scheduling, Purchasing, and other departments on workflow, tooling, cost reduction, planning, and process improvements.
  • Expedite hot orders and redirect resources as needed to meet shipment deadlines.
  • Coordinate with Production Control and dispatchers on workflow and order sequence.
  • Participate in interviews, job visits, and employment recommendations.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing on requisitions for tools and supplies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to work 3rd shift, generally from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed. Overtime may start as early as 8:00 PM and may occasionally extend past 6:00 AM.
  • Must be open to weekend rotation, which could be required up to 50% of the time depending on business needs.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and direct a production crew in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of safety practices, PPE requirements, and production standards.
  • Ability to work in both office and shop environments.
  • Comfortable with frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting, and working around shop noise, fumes, vapors, dust, and other manufacturing conditions.
  • Must be tech savvy and comfortable using basic computer systems.
  • ERP experience required or strongly preferred, such as SAP, AS400, or similar systems.
  • Must be comfortable using Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams.
  • Strong communication, follow-up, and leadership skills.
  • Experience supporting safety investigations, corrective actions, production planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities, expedite hot orders, and redirect resources to meet production and shipping deadlines.
  • Comfortable reviewing production information, completing documentation, and using systems to support daily operations.
  • Experience in machining, forging, welding, painting, finishing, assembly, or similar manufacturing operations preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills related to production, tooling, machine malfunctions, workflow issues, and employee/team support.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with Maintenance, QA, Engineering, Production Control, Scheduling, Purchasing, and other internal teams.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience supervising or leading employees in a union environment preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with payroll systems, such as ADP, preferred.

Physical Demands / Environmental Conditions

This position includes both office and shop floor responsibilities. Office duties may require long periods of sitting, telephone work, computer work, and regular interaction with others.

The role also requires moderate exposure to shop conditions, which may vary depending on the task assigned. Shop conditions may include noise, dust, fumes, vapors, solutions controlled to OSHA standards, and dirty or confined work areas. The position involves extensive standing and walking and may include indoor and occasional outdoor work.
