Position Summary:

MSPS is looking to hire a Medical Planning Support professional. This position provides healthcare planning, programming, space utilization, and operational planning support for Defense Health Agency (DHA) Facilities Enterprise projects. The selected candidate will assist with the planning, design, construction, activation, and post-occupancy evaluation of military healthcare, medical education, laboratory, and research facilities. This position works closely with DHA leadership, clinical stakeholders, NAVFAC, USACE, architects, engineers, and project teams to ensure healthcare facilities support mission requirements and operational efficiency. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support healthcare facility planning, programming, and space utilization studies for military healthcare projects.
  • Conduct workflow analyses and evaluate clinical, administrative, research, and educational operational requirements.
  • Assist with development and refinement of planning documents, business plans, healthcare requirements analyses, deficiency studies, and facility utilization studies.
  • Gather and analyze workload projections, staffing requirements, equipment needs, information technology requirements, and space allocations.
  • Facilitate planning meetings with healthcare providers, end users, command leadership, and project stakeholders.
  • Review healthcare facility designs to ensure alignment with operational requirements and design intent.
  • Participate in design reviews, activation planning activities, commissioning efforts, and post-occupancy evaluations.
  • Coordinate planning efforts among DHA, NAVFAC, USACE, medical treatment facilities, architects, and consultants.
  • Support development of activation and transition plans, move coordination efforts, and occupancy readiness activities.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
  • Support records management and project documentation requirements.
  • Frequent collaboration with healthcare providers, facility leadership, architects, engineers, and Government personnel.
  • Periodic travel to military treatment facilities, project sites, and healthcare campuses.
  • Review technical documents and healthcare planning materials.
  • Review planning documents, reports, drawings, and technical materials.
  • Conduct facility walkthroughs and attend stakeholder meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Industry Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Planning, Healthcare Administration, Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, Public Health, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of healthcare planning experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience supporting healthcare and/or medical laboratory/research facility projects.
  • Minimum five (5) years supporting NAVFAC and/or USACE medical facility projects.
  • Experience supporting healthcare facility planning, design, activation, and operational readiness activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of healthcare facility planning principles, clinical operations, and space programming methodologies.
  • Familiarity with healthcare design standards, planning criteria, and facility utilization practices.
  • Knowledge of Department of Defense healthcare planning processes and facility requirements.
  • Working knowledge of UFC, NFPA, ADA/ABA, OSHA, Joint Commission standards, and applicable healthcare facility regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to conduct space utilization studies and operational analyses.
  • Ability to facilitate user group meetings and stakeholder workshops.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.

Certifications/Licenses/Other

  • Certified Healthcare Planner (CHP) preferred.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain any required credentials, clearances, licenses, or authorizations associated with the worksite or contract.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based within DHA Facilities Enterprise offices located in Falls Church, Virginia.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
