Job Description:

The Extruder Operator supports the Lead Operator and Shift Supervisor in the setup, operation, and monitoring of extrusion equipment. This role is responsible for material handling, basic machine support, quality checks, and maintaining a safe, clean and efficient work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Lead Operator and Shift Supervisor to operate the extrusion line on assigned shift
  • Assist with machine setup, startup, and shutdown procedures
  • Load raw materials (resins, additives, colorants) into hoppers and feeders
  • Monitor extrusion lines for proper operation and notify Lead Operator of any issues
  • Perform basic quality checks (visual inspections, measurements) on products
  • Remove, package, and label finished products according to specifications
  • Support changeovers, including cleaning and preparing tooling and equipment
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE
  • Transport materials and finished goods (may use pallet jacks or forklifts if certified)
  • Assist maintenance and operators with minor troubleshooting and adjustments

Minimum Required Skills and Education

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of experience working on machines in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to effectively read, write and communicate in English
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team 
  • Strong attention to detail 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours per shift)
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching to operate and maintain extrusion equipment
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • Perform repetitive hand and arm movements for machine adjustments and material handling
  • Good visual acuity and manual dexterity for reading gauges, monitoring controls, and inspecting product quality
  • Comfortable working in a factory environment with heat, noise, and moving machinery
  • Ability to wear and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear
  • Must be able to climb stairs or ladders and work at various heights as needed
  • Tolerance for standing and performing tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing setting

Compensation Information:

$26-$27
