Audit Manager
Responsibilities:
• Lead audits and review engagements that assess program performance, financial stewardship, compliance exposure, operational effectiveness, and technology-related risk.
• Develop audit scopes, risk-based work plans, and testing strategies to ensure engagements are executed thoroughly and efficiently.
• Oversee audit activities from kickoff through completion, including fieldwork, analysis, issue validation, and final documentation.
• Meet with agency leaders and key stakeholders to gather insight, discuss concerns, and communicate audit progress and outcomes.
• Prepare clear, well-supported reports that outline observations, root causes, risk impacts, and practical recommendations for improvement.
• Manage complex or minimally staffed assignments, using sound judgment to prioritize work and maintain project momentum.
• Provide audit support for specialized initiatives such as bond oversight reviews and large-scale program or system implementation efforts when needed.
• Contribute to a strong control environment by identifying gaps in governance, accountability, and fund management practices.
Qualifications:
• Experience leading internal audit, operational audit, financial audit, or performance audit engagements.• Strong knowledge of audit planning, risk assessment, control evaluation, and report development.
• Ability to identify and document audit findings with clear supporting analysis and actionable recommendations.
• Familiarity with financial controls, compliance frameworks, and operational risk management principles.
• Working knowledge of SOX or comparable control and governance standards is preferred.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present issues and recommendations to leadership and other stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage complex audit assignments independently and balance multiple priorities in an onsite environment.
