Litigation Paralegal
Responsibilities:
• Calculate and enter litigation deadlines by reviewing served pleadings, motions, and other legal documents with a high degree of accuracy.
• Oversee active case calendars for matters pending in California Superior Courts and California federal district courts, ensuring all dates are current and properly tracked.
• Interpret applicable state court procedures and local civil rules to support compliant case scheduling and deadline management.
• Monitor discovery schedules, motion timelines, and other case milestones to help matters progress efficiently.
• Keep attorneys informed of approaching obligations by providing timely reminders and practical guidance on upcoming weekly priorities.
• Research procedural requirements for civil motions and outline filing steps, timing considerations, and related deadlines for attorney review.
• Prepare and submit electronic filings in California state courts and federal courts while maintaining accuracy and completeness in all submissions.
• Maintain organized case records and documentation systems to support reliable file management and smooth day-to-day litigation operations.
• Assist with onboarding and training related to case management processes before leave coverage begins, as needed for continuity.
Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of experience supporting civil litigation matters in a paralegal or case management capacity.• Demonstrated ability to calculate court deadlines for both California state courts and federal district courts.
• Strong understanding of California civil procedure, including applicable local court rules for civil cases.
• Hands-on experience using Outlook Calendar and Clio in a litigation support environment.
• Ability to determine statutory and procedural deadlines without relying solely on automated systems.
• Prior experience handling electronic court filings in both state and federal jurisdictions.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced legal setting.
