Financial Aid Associate

Compensation: $26 to $29 Hourly

We are looking for a Financial Aid Associate to support students and families in understanding and securing funding for their education in New York, New York. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can combine regulatory knowledge with a service-oriented approach to help students navigate financial aid programs, eligibility, and financing options. The role involves detailed review of aid records, coordination of required documentation, and accurate administration of federal, state, and institutional assistance in a university environment.

Responsibilities:
• Advise students and their families on available funding options, including federal, state, institutional, and private education resources.
• Assess financial aid eligibility and prepare award packages in accordance with established regulations and institutional policies.
• Review applicant records for accuracy, complete verification activities, and apply careful judgment when appropriate to adjust aid eligibility.
• Monitor and reconcile financial aid disbursements, student aid accounts, and loan-related transactions.
• Gather, organize, and track required documents to ensure timely and compliant processing of aid files.
• Certify student loan applications and provide guidance on borrowing decisions and debt management practices.
• Administer New York State student aid programs, including ongoing review and end-of-term reconciliation activities.
• Deliver clear and dependable information regarding education financing while maintaining a high standard of student service.
• Contribute to additional assignments and special projects that support financial aid operations and departmental goals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• Prior experience in an office or student services setting is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
• Ability to handle confidential matters with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
• Excellent organizational skills and close attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, including Title IV programs.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar business software.

Compensation

$26.00-$29.00 Hourly
