Controller
Responsibilities:
• Lead the company’s accounting and financial control activities, ensuring accurate reporting, sound processes, and timely month-end and year-end close results.
• Oversee construction-focused accounting functions, including job cost tracking, revenue recognition, and contract-related billing activities, with AIA billing knowledge considered an advantage.
• Partner with ownership and external financial stakeholders to deliver meaningful analysis, support decision-making, and maintain financial visibility across the business.
• Review and enhance internal accounting workflows, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through better use of technology, automation, and emerging AI-driven tools.
• Manage the integrity of financial data across platforms such as Business Central, QuickBooks, and other operational systems used by the organization.
• Establish and maintain strong controls over financial documentation, records management, and supporting audit-ready reporting practices.
• Take initiative in addressing accounting issues proactively, recommending practical solutions that support both current needs and future growth.
• Contribute to leadership succession readiness by building the breadth of knowledge and capability needed to step into greater financial responsibility over time.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience serving as a Controller or senior-level accounting leader in the construction industry.• Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including cost tracking, contract accounting, and financial reporting.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of priorities, and operate effectively as a self-directed finance leader.
• Demonstrated comfort with accounting systems and technology, with the ability to evaluate and adopt process improvements.
• Experience working with platforms such as Business Central and QuickBooks, or comparable financial systems.
• AIA billing experience is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to documentation accuracy, record control, and detail management.
Compensation
