Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Manage general ledger activity, ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
• Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining proper supporting documentation for all accounting adjustments.
• Reconcile account balances and investigate variances to help preserve the integrity of financial reporting.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes by reviewing records, resolving discrepancies, and finalizing account activity.
• Assist with corporate tax and sales tax responsibilities, including compiling data and supporting filing requirements.
• Contribute to the preparation of corporate tax return information by organizing financial details and responding to documentation needs.
• Maintain compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and applicable reporting requirements.
• Provide accounting support for fund-based reporting needs, with preference for experience in state or local government accounting environments.
Qualifications:
• Experience working in a Staff Accountant or General Ledger Accountant capacity.• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.
• Hands-on experience supporting corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return processes.
• Ability to perform account reconciliations and identify reporting inconsistencies.
• Proficiency in maintaining accurate financial records and meeting reporting deadlines.
• Government fund accounting experience in a state or local government setting is preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
