Accounts Payable Clerk

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join a medical devices organization in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is well suited for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment and brings strong Excel skills along with hands-on accounts payable experience. The ideal candidate will support day-to-day payment operations, maintain accurate financial records, and contribute to timely month-end reporting and reconciliation activities.

Responsibilities:

• Process a high volume of vendor invoices with accuracy and in accordance with established accounting procedures.

• Assign appropriate coding to invoices and verify supporting documentation before submission for payment.

• Prepare and assist with check runs to ensure vendors are paid correctly and on schedule.

• Reconcile accounts payable records and investigate discrepancies to maintain accurate balances.

• Compile non-inventory reporting and help produce month-end financial reports for the accounting team.

• Use Excel extensively to organize data, track transactions, and support reporting needs.

• Partner with internal stakeholders and vendors to resolve invoice, payment, and account issues efficiently.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

• Strong Excel skills with a high level of comfort working with spreadsheets and financial data.

• Practical experience with invoice processing, invoice coding, and check run support.

• Ability to perform account reconciliations and identify discrepancies with attention to detail.

• Experience preparing reports in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment.

• Background in an accounts payable specialist capacity is helpful.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

Must be willing to consent to drug and background screening to be considered.
