Medical Billing Specialist
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and submit medical claims with a high degree of accuracy to support timely payment from insurance carriers and other payers.
• Review billing documentation and coding details to identify discrepancies, correct issues, and reduce claim rejections or denials.
• Follow up on outstanding balances by working directly with payers, patients, and internal teams to resolve billing questions and secure reimbursement.
• Investigate denied or delayed claims, determine the cause, and take appropriate action to support successful resubmission or appeal.
• Maintain organized account records and update billing systems with current claim status, payment activity, and collection notes.
• Use EPACES and related billing tools to verify information, review claim activity, and assist with claims processing tasks.
• Monitor accounts receivable activity and prioritize follow-up efforts to improve collection performance and payment turnaround times.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience in medical billing within a healthcare, clinic, hospital, or physician practice environment.• Working knowledge of medical coding principles and their impact on clean claim submission and reimbursement accuracy.
• Experience handling medical claims, payment posting follow-up, and collections related to outstanding patient or payer balances.
• Familiarity with EPACES and comfort navigating billing platforms and payer portals.
• Ability to identify billing errors, research account issues, and resolve problems with strong attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with payers, patients, and internal stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines in a Contract assignment.
