Payroll Specialist

We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in Albany, Oregon for a permanent contract position. This on-site role will support payroll operations across multiple states, ensuring accurate and timely processing for both hourly and salaried staff. The ideal candidate brings strong payroll knowledge, works confidently with accounting systems, and can step into a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Process end-to-end payroll on a bi-weekly schedule for across multiple U.S. states, covering both exempt and non-exempt team members.

• Review payroll data for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and ensure earnings, deductions, taxes, and withholdings are handled correctly.

• Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation in compliance with company procedures and applicable payroll regulations.

• Collaborate with internal partners to address payroll questions, research issues, and provide timely resolutions to employees and management.

• Enter and reconcile payroll-related journal entries within the accounting system

• Support payroll administration in systems such as Paycom or Paylocity, depending on business needs and prior experience.

• Assist with cross-training and knowledge transfer to provide seamless coverage before, during, and after a team member’s leave period.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll for an employee population within the 101–500 range.
• Strong working knowledge of multi-state payroll practices, including payroll taxes, deductions, and compliance requirements.
• Experience using payroll platforms such as Paycom; exposure to Paylocity is helpful but not required.
• Familiarity with general ledger processes and the ability to prepare or post payroll-related journal entries.
• Ability to work in a permanent on-site setting in Albany, Oregon.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to handle confidential payroll information responsibly.
• Bilingual communication skills are valued but not required.

Compensation

$28.00-$30.00 Hourly
