Network Engineer

Onsite | Ausitn, TX | Contract

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN)
• Monitor network performance, availability, and reliability to ensure optimal uptime
• Configure and manage network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, outages, and performance bottlenecks
• Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and access controls
• Plan and execute network upgrades, patches, and system enhancements
• Support cloud and hybrid network environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP connectivity)
• Collaborate with system administrators, security teams, and application teams to support business needs
• Manage IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and other core network services
• Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures
• Perform capacity planning and scalability assessments for future growth
• Ensure compliance with company policies, security standards, and industry best practices
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning for network systems
• Work with vendors and service providers on network-related issues and implementations

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3–7+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering or administration
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF)
• Experience configuring and managing routers, switches, and firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet)
• Proven experience with LAN/WAN, VPNs, and wireless networks
• Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark, Nagios, etc.)
• Experience with network security concepts (ACLs, IDS/IPS, segmentation)
• Understanding of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid environments
• Ability to diagnose and resolve network performance issues and outages quickly
• Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional IT teams
