Network Engineer
Onsite | Ausitn, TX | Contract
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN)
- Monitor network performance, availability, and reliability to ensure optimal uptime
- Configure and manage network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, outages, and performance bottlenecks
- Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and access controls
- Plan and execute network upgrades, patches, and system enhancements
- Support cloud and hybrid network environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP connectivity)
- Collaborate with system administrators, security teams, and application teams to support business needs
- Manage IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and other core network services
- Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures
- Perform capacity planning and scalability assessments for future growth
- Ensure compliance with company policies, security standards, and industry best practices
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning for network systems
- Work with vendors and service providers on network-related issues and implementations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–7+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering or administration
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF)
- Experience configuring and managing routers, switches, and firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet)
- Proven experience with LAN/WAN, VPNs, and wireless networks
- Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark, Nagios, etc.)
- Experience with network security concepts (ACLs, IDS/IPS, segmentation)
- Understanding of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid environments
- Ability to diagnose and resolve network performance issues and outages quickly
- Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional IT teams
