Sr. Manager, Technology
Salary Range: $100,000 - $115,000
Location: Hybrid from the DMV
Position Summary
The Water Environment Federation is seeking a Senior Manager, Technology to play a critical leadership role in maintaining and advancing WEF’s core technology environment. This position is responsible for overseeing managed service providers (MSPs), ensuring the stability and security of the Microsoft ecosystem, and supporting enterprise platforms that enable day-to-day operations across the organization.
This role blends hands-on technical leadership with operational oversight, requiring a strong foundation in cloud infrastructure, identity and access management, and cybersecurity best practices, as well as the ability to coordinate vendors, manage projects, and support cross-functional systems.

Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure & Cloud Environment
- Manage and optimize WEF’s Microsoft ecosystem, including Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and endpoint management tools
- Oversee identity, access, and security controls such as MFA, conditional access, device compliance, and endpoint protection
- Support the transition and ongoing management of cloud-first infrastructure, including modernization of legacy systems where applicable
- Ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability across core platforms
Managed Services & Vendor Oversight
- Serve as the primary point of contact for MSP relationships, ensuring service delivery aligns with organizational expectations and SLAs
- Coordinate escalation, performance management, and continuous improvement of outsourced IT services
- Collaborate with external partners on infrastructure, security, and support initiatives
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls aligned with industry best practices
- Monitor and improve security posture across identity, endpoint, and network layers
- Support incident response, vulnerability remediation, and user awareness initiatives
- Maintain documentation and contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning
Microsoft 365 & Collaboration Environment
- Lead ongoing cleanup, optimization, and governance of the Microsoft 365 environment, including SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive
- Establish standards for structure, permissions, and lifecycle management of content and collaboration spaces
- Partner with business units to improve usability while maintaining security and compliance
Enterprise Systems Support
- Provide backup administrative support for Salesforce and other enterprise applications as needed
- Ensure continuity of operations during planned or unplanned absences of system owners
- Collaborate with system owners to align infrastructure and integration requirements
Project Management & Execution
- Manage and deliver IT infrastructure and security-related projects from planning through execution
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery
- Maintain clear documentation, project plans, and status reporting
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of work
Required Skills
- 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud engineering, or systems administration
- 2+ years of People Leadership Experience
- Strong expertise in Microsoft technologies, including Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and endpoint management
- Experience managing or working with managed service providers (MSPs)
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, identity management, and network security
- Experience supporting or administering enterprise platforms (e.g., CRM systems such as Salesforce)
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong documentation, communication, and vendor coordination skills
- Ability to travel up to 10 – 20%
Preferred Skills
- Relevant certifications in Microsoft Azure, security, or networking
- Experience in hybrid or cloud migration environments
- Familiarity with scripting or automation tools (e.g., PowerShell)
- Experience in nonprofit, association, or multi-entity environments
