The Department of Medicine - The Division of Malignant Hematology/ Medical Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh is recruiting for full-time faculty at the level of Assistant Professor, appointment or tenure stream, Associate Professor, appointment or tenure stream and Professor appointment or tenured. Eligible candidates will be accomplished investigators with a demonstrated track record in extramural NIH funding, and an exceptional publication record. Excellent opportunities are available for translational research and clinical care. Qualified applicants must have an MD and will be BC/BE (Board Certified/Board Eligible). The position offers extraordinary opportunities for research, direct patient care, along with teaching and mentoring of students, residents, and fellows. Candidates will join as faculty positions that commensurate with prior training and experience.

The job responsibilities and expectations for this role include building a robust research program in blood cancer related research and drug development with other clinicians, translational researchers and basic scientists at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Additionally, providing graduate education of PhD students and leading scientific programmatic efforts. The percentage of effort for this position is Research 85%, Teaching 5%, and Service 10%.

Candidates for Assistant Professor, appointment or tenure stream, need three or more years of experience in related scientific research; have achieved or established the ability to attain external research funding; have dispersed results through peer-reviewed publications and other scientific forums; have noteworthy teaching experience; and established the capability for continued career development, promotion, and tenure.

Candidates for Associate Professor, appointment or tenure stream, require five or more years of experience in related scientific research; have independent, external research funding and an extensive record of peer-reviewed publications; have substantial teaching experience; and demonstrate the ability for continued, impactful, independent scholarly contributions and leadership.

Candidates for Professor, non-tenure, tenure-stream, and tenured, will have fulfilled five to seven years as an Associate Professor. The rank of professor regards the individual accomplishments of respected knowledge and status in a distinguished field of learning and the achievement of successful teaching knowledge and practices. The professor should have obtained enhanced stature in their field through contributions of scholarship, professional practice, and leadership in professional and learning organizations.
