The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service.

 

This position reports to (supervisor): Larlene Dunsmuir, DNP, FNP, ANP-BC

Function/Duties of Position

Clinical Activities (not assigned administrative, education, or research FTE):

  • Plans and supervises student lab and/or clinical experiences or practice based on teaching assignment.

Faculty Activities (service, scholarship, and research):

  • Participates in scholarly activities based on faculty rank.
    • At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the practice mission demonstrate competence in the area of clinical expertise and engage in inquiry and scholarship that contributes to the practice of clinical practice.
    • At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the research mission advance a program of research, prepare grants and seek funding, and engage with other missions to foster inquiry within the SON.
  • Provides effective didactic instruction based on teaching assignments using appropriate instructional technologies to ensure that course outcomes are met.
  • Participates collaboratively in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum.
  • Mentors and advises students.
  • Faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities, and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program or Academic Director.

Other Activities (not covered above):

  • All APPs are expected to support the clinical, education, and research mission of OHSU through routine clinical care that includes working with students, trainees, and patients participating in research, consistent with their role, scope of practice, and applicable contract and institutional policies.
  • Administrative activities as negotiated

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Successful completion of a Master’s Degree in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing in a recognized APRN specialty (Family Nurse Practitioner). DNP preferred.

Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses:

  • Current RN and APRN licensure with the Oregon Board of Nursing.
  • Current national certification in the area of specialization.
  • Current BLS, ACLS or PALS Certification as indicated for the position
  • DEA Certification.

Experience:

  • Two years of clinical experience preferred.
  • Documented teaching competency demonstrated through experience, education preparation preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Expert clinical knowledge including integrating evidence-based practices
  • Pedagogical skills including knowledge and skills in implementing competency-based education
  • Mentoring skills
  • Leadership capabilities
  • Ability to effectively assess clinical judgement and give constructive, effective feedback to students.
  • Must have technology proficiency for evaluating simulation, clinical abilities, and health information systems

Additional Details

Union Representation:

  • This position is represented by the Oregon Nurses Association - Advance Practice United (ONA-APU), subject to the active Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Working Conditions:

  • Travel for classes, clinical site visits, meetings, etc.
