Clinical Assistant

Position Description

Employees in this classification provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties. In the clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from a physician or nursing supervisor in either oral or written form. In the office setting, the employee receives direct supervision from the department administrator. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions, and may be stressful when working under emergency conditions.

Major/Essential Functions

  • All duties required from the Head nurse and or Office Manager.
  • Use basic equipment, i.e. thermometer, blood pressure cuff, scales, stethoscope, as well as, more sophisticated equipment such as EKG machine.
  • Possess the knowledge and abilities to perform CPR, give injections, follow directions, and to observe pertinent details and communicate effectively.
  • Work with patients and help them to understand and follow provider directions and clinic protocols.


Required Qualifications

A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants in the area of required specialty. Certification by an approved accredited certifying agency in the specialty in which the particular work will be performed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 or more years clinic experience.
  • EMR experience.
