Position Description

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) is seeking a Fellowship trained Hematologist/Oncologist in Lubbock, Texas to work at the University Medical Center (UMC) TLC² Foundation Cancer Center.

The Hematologist/Oncologist will work in UMC's new 124,000 sq. ft. comprehensive academic cancer center, which opened on April 20th, 2026. The center features:

Major/Essential Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive physical exams with review of medica history and review/interpretation of lab and diagnostic testing.
  • Develop and manage customized treatment regiments inclusive of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive care.
  • Communicate with patients and family members regarding diagnoses, testing and treatment options;
  • Perform specialty specific procedures as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with additional members of the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Provide patient care a minimum of 8 half days with an expected patient volume of 10-12 patients per half day.
  • Participate in the training and mentoring of medical students, residents and fellows.


Required Qualifications

  • MD/DO or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain a Texas Medical License.
  • Completion of USMLE Step 3.
  • Board Eligible in Hematology, or in the process of completing an ACGME accredited Hematology Fellowship, OR Board Eligible in Oncology, or in the process of completing an ACGME accredited Oncology Fellowship.
