Accounts Receivable Billing Specialist
We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Billing Specialist to support revenue cycle and billing operations for a healthcare organization in Rochester, New York. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable working with accounting systems, and experienced in managing receivables in a fast-paced setting. The person in this role will help maintain accurate payment activity, support billing workflows, and contribute to timely account resolution across multiple financial processes.
Responsibilities:
• Process incoming payments and record cash activity accurately within accounting and billing systems.
• Manage accounts receivable balances by reviewing open items, following up on outstanding amounts, and helping resolve payment discrepancies.
• Prepare and submit billing transactions with close attention to accuracy, timeliness, and payer-specific requirements.
• Support Medicaid billing activities and monitor claim-related issues to help improve reimbursement outcomes.
• Reconcile account activity by comparing payment records, billing details, and system data to identify and correct variances.
• Handle daily cash-related tasks, including posting receipts, tracking deposits, and maintaining organized financial documentation.
• Assist with operational updates to financial workflows or system-related processes as needed within the receivables function.
Qualifications:
• Experience working in accounts receivable, billing, or related accounting support roles.
• Proficiency with accounting software systems and excel.
• Working knowledge of accounts receivable processes, payment posting, and cash application activities.
• Background in billing functions, preferably within healthcare, hospital, or social assistance environments.
• Familiarity with Medicaid billing procedures and common reimbursement requirements.
• Ability to manage cash handling responsibilities with accuracy and strong attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work in a deadline-driven setting.
Compensation
