Payroll Clerk
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate onboarding activities for union construction hires, including scheduling and supporting safety and project orientation sessions.
• Prepare and organize hiring documentation for timely and accurate entry into the HR data system.
• Process weekly payroll and record payroll-related entries with a high level of accuracy.
• Produce recurring payroll compliance documentation, including certified payroll reporting and project-specific submissions.
• Apply payroll transaction rules within JD Edwards and ensure entries align with established procedures.
• Communicate and apply payroll account coding, including accrual-related entries, in collaboration with accounting and finance contacts.
• Calculate insurance-related payroll credits for project programs covering general liability and workers' compensation.
• Investigate payroll discrepancies, correct payment issues, and enter adjustments when wages are inaccurate or incomplete.
• Maintain project files by scanning, copying, and organizing payroll records and related reports while safeguarding confidential employee information.
• Partner with Payroll, Corporate Accounting, and Division Finance teams and assist with additional tasks assigned by leadership.
Qualifications:
• At least 2 years of experience in payroll support, payroll administration, or a similar clerical accounting role.• Background in weekly payroll processing, payroll corrections, and compliance-related reporting.
• Working knowledge of payroll and accounting platforms such as JD Edwards, ADP, ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, or Dayforce.
• Familiarity with payroll coding, accruals, and general accounting functions in a project-based environment.
• Experience handling confidential employee information with professionalism and discretion.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet recurring deadlines and manage detailed documentation.
• Comfortable working across departments and communicating with payroll, accounting, and finance stakeholders.
• Exposure to construction, contractor, union, benefits, auditing, accounts payable, or timekeeping processes is preferred.
