We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Buyer to support procurement, supplier management, and materials planning activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, optimizing inventory, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure materials availability aligns with production schedules and business objectives. This is a temporary position with the potential to convert to a permanent role based on business needs and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for critical materials and services to drive cost savings, quality improvements, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead supplier selection, qualification, audits, and ongoing performance management, including development and maintenance of supplier scorecards.
  • Negotiate complex contracts and long-term supplier agreements to secure favorable terms and foster strategic partnerships.
  • Monitor market trends and identify new sourcing opportunities, including global sourcing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Materials Manager and production teams to develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules and procurement plans in alignment with customer demand and operational goals.
  • Analyze inventory levels, usage trends, and forecasts to optimize stock levels, reduce shortages, and minimize excess inventory.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to streamline procurement workflows and improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Analyze purchasing and operational data, prepare reports and metrics for management, and recommend actions to improve performance and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Partner with Engineering, Production, Quality, and other departments to resolve material issues and support new product introductions.
  • Drive measurable results in cost savings, supplier performance, inventory turns, and on-time raw material performance.
  • Mentor and support the Buyer by sharing best practices and encouraging professional development.
  • Expedite critical orders, resolve pricing and shipping discrepancies, and ensure timely vendor confirmations.
  • Support team 5S initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Work with the Materials Manager and team to maintain ISO-related documentation, work instructions, and vendor performance records.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in purchasing, strategic sourcing, or materials planning within a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of sourcing, purchasing activities, purchasing materials, pricing, and shipping and receiving processes.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience using ERP or related business systems to support purchasing and materials management activities.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to build productive working relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
• Self-directed approach with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Compensation

$26.00-$30.00 Hourly
