Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a contract position based in California. This role is ideal for a finance specialist who can manage daily ledger activity, maintain accurate records, and contribute to tax-related reporting with a high degree of accuracy. The position offers the opportunity to work across general accounting functions while helping ensure compliance with corporate and sales tax requirements.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and record journal entries to keep financial transactions accurate, timely, and properly documented.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigating discrepancies and resolving variances as needed.
• Support the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns in accordance with applicable regulations and deadlines.
• Assist with sales tax reporting by reviewing transaction data, calculating liabilities, and helping ensure accurate submissions.
• Compile financial information and supporting schedules for month-end and periodic accounting close activities.
• Review accounting records for completeness and consistency, recommending corrections when issues are identified.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather financial data and provide accounting support for routine reporting needs.

Qualifications:

• Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.
• Knowledge of corporate tax principles, including exposure to corporate tax return preparation.
• Familiarity with sales tax processes and related compliance requirements.
• Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize and manage multiple accounting priorities.
• Proficiency in accounting systems and spreadsheet-based financial analysis.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently in a Contract position.

Compensation

$23.75-$27.50 Hourly
