Accountant

We are looking for an Accountant to support core financial operations for a Contract position based in San Luis Obispo, California. This role will handle day-to-day accounting activities across payables, receivables, and general ledger functions while helping maintain accurate and timely financial records. The ideal candidate brings strong working knowledge of reconciliations, journal entries, and payroll-related processes, along with experience using modern accounting systems such as Sage Intacct and Paylocity.

Responsibilities:
• Manage invoice processing, payment scheduling, and vendor account follow-up to keep accounts payable activity accurate and current.
• Oversee billing support, cash application, and customer account tracking to maintain organized accounts receivable records.
• Prepare and post journal entries while ensuring transactions are properly recorded within the general ledger.
• Complete bank and account reconciliations on a regular basis and investigate discrepancies to resolution.
• Assist with payroll-related accounting tasks, including review of supporting data and coordination of accurate entries.
• Maintain financial records in Sage Intacct and support routine accounting workflows through effective system use.
• Apply GAAP-based accounting practices when reviewing transactions, balances, and supporting documentation.
• Contribute to month-end close activities by organizing schedules, reconciling accounts, and ensuring reporting deadlines are met.

Qualifications:

• Experience performing accounting work across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
• Proficiency in preparing journal entries and completing detailed account and bank reconciliations.
• Working knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and their application in daily financial operations.
• Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct for accounting processing and record maintenance.
• Familiarity with payroll functions and related systems, including Paylocity.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies efficiently.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate documentation in a Contract role.

Compensation

$27.71-$32.09 Hourly
