Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a team in Nashville, Tennessee in a Contract to permanent capacity. This opportunity is well suited for an accounting candidate with at least 3 years of experience who can manage core accounting activities with accuracy and consistency. The role focuses on maintaining financial records, preparing journal entries, and completing reconciliations that support reliable month-end reporting.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries to keep the general ledger accurate and up to date.
• Perform account reconciliations across key balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Complete full bank reconciliations by reviewing bank statements and investigating outstanding items.
• Support month-end and periodic close activities by verifying balances and maintaining supporting documentation.
• Assist with corporate and sales tax-related accounting tasks, including gathering information needed for filings and compliance.
• Review financial activity for accuracy and alignment with established accounting procedures and departmental standards.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a staff accountant or similar role.
• Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and working within a general ledger environment.
• Strong background in account reconciliation, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
• Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and support for corporate tax return processes.
• Ability to analyze bank statements and identify variances, errors, or unreconciled transactions.
• Working knowledge of standard accounting procedures and department operating practices.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Compensation

$26.13-$30.25 Hourly
