Job Description:

In the School of Justice Studies, the Department of Politics and International Relations is seeking a part-time adjunct instructor to teach POLSC 307: Gender in American Politics Political Theory on Tuesday/Friday from 3:30-4:50. The course will be in person in Bristol, RI. The course description is:

POLSC 307 is designed to provide a comprehensive examination of the role that gender plays in American politics. After a historical overview, theories, data, and analysis about gender differences in voting behavior, candidate behavior, leadership styles, and public policy preferences will be examined.

Other classes, including POLSC 100: Introduction to American Politics or other upper level courses might be available in future semesters.

Essential Duties

Prepare meaningful lectures and class activities for the full duration of the published class time for each class period according to academic calendar;

Create a syllabus that meets the Provost's Syllabus Checklist requirements;

Create assessment activities that support the stated learning outcomes for the course;

Address student questions in a timely and helpful manner;

Use D2L Brightspace Learning Management System and other technology to enhance student learning;

Support and follow University policies and procedures;

Submit grades and materials for assessment projects on or before stated deadlines;

Communicate student concerns with Department Chair in the program.





Job Requirements:

Master's degree in Political Science or related field

Experience teaching at the college level, particularly in American government and politics.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. (ABD) or Ph.D.

Experience with active or experiential learning or other innovative pedagogical models

At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be accepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
