Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate:
- Has a minimum of two years of proven experience teaching studio and lecture courses and has a demonstrated high rate of retention and participation of students.
- Has earned at minimum a terminal degree in Architecture (M.Arch.), Interior Design, is ABD or has earned an advanced degree (Ph.D., D.Arch, etc.) in a cognate discipline such as urban design. Retaining a status as a Registered Architect is preferable; a willingness to pursue registration is a plus.
- A capable teacher who is comfortable working directly with students in the classroom and studio and who can develop dynamic projects and content that challenge students from an applied learning and critical thinking perspective and that also meets NAAB and CIDA student performance criteria.
- Invested in the Alfred State College community and a ready, willing, and able participant in the life of the department, our students, campus, and community including actively advising and mentoring students, recruiting, participating in weekend campus tours and advising student groups such as our new National Organization of Minority Architecture Students Chapter.
- Proficient and comfortable with technology (hardware and software) programs used in architectural firms and practice and willing to keep current on advancements in professional and instructional technology. Software typically taught at Alfred State College includes but is not limited to: Autodesk Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion and Enscape.
- Willing to join an established team of educators and practicing professionals as a flexible new faculty member willing to productively engage the culture of the department, the Southern Tier region and to demonstrate self-determination and leadership capacity when appropriate.
